Sikander is a collaboration (some say “misadventure”) between sound-designer and crate-digger Pradip Sarkar, classically-trained musician Prem CJ, and visual artist Paul Rodgers, aka Arnold “Eye” Irons - three men with very diverse backgrounds and experiences.

With Sikander, they blend their influences, ranging from experimental sounds, ambient electronica, krautrock, industrial, South Indian classical, Central and South East Asian music, to Detroit techno, dub-tech, acid-house, and UK Bass.

Cinema for the Dead is Sikander’s debut EP, proudly released on Melbourne’s Pinksilver Net imprint.

It features 3 tracks written in the manner of film score, from the early Detroit-influenced opener, Trojan Hound - an ode to the era of Sergio Corleone’s spaghetti westerns to Tiger Muffin, with its funk riffs and fuzzy guitar samples, owes its influences to 1970s Blaxploitation and Bollywood.

The sounds of industrial machinery and 80’s science-fiction led to the conception of the moody Machine Dreams.

[psnet017] Lorenzo - Zyon Atmosphere EP

Pinksilver welcomes long-time associate Lorenzo with his first release on our Netlabel imprint, showcasing his crisp & steely techno rhythms on the “Zyon Atmosphere” EP.

Originally hailing from the UK and now finding Melbourne, Australia home, his love for quality sound systems is reflected in his search for depth, momentum & sub-bass in his productions.

The title track ‘Zyon Atmosphere’ encompasses these elements rather swimmingly, moving in & out of industrial soundscapes as he paints a bleak future with his arrangements.

‘Density’ continues the industrial feel of the EP with sounds and arrangements suited to the inner walls of the old Tresor bunker, or perhaps the surroundings of today’s current day techno mecca, Berghain.

The final track ‘Pathfinder’ rounds off Lorenzo’s first release on Pinksilver properly, with the steely rhythms being complimented with strings that provide the listener hope amongst the unrelenting grooves.

This release is not for the faint hearted. Get your cold, hard groove on.

[psnet016] Markojux - The Cusp EP

Pinksilver stalwart Markojux returns to the label’s Net imprint with ‘The Cusp’ EP, a selection of dark, eminent techno cuts showcasing his versatile production style.

‘Rack Hoon’ is a journey into eerie sonic soundscapes, complete with ominous stabs and twisted hooks that are woven deep into a rumbling bass line.

‘Lysurgic’ continues on the murky ride into the night, sounds that are bare and bordering on the paranormal, full of warped samples and layers of thick, harmonious rhythms.

‘Friction Emo’ is a track full of tension and pressure, resistance and conflict - finding itself bent in sonic stabs and threatening pads. This cut is not for the faint hearted.

Closing out the release is a remix of Friction Emo by London starlet Truss. Known for his moving and more sinister take on techno soundscapes, he does not disappoint with his interpretation of Friction Emo, pointing to the glory days of Detroit but with a fresh and original take in 2010.

Pinksilver Net is over the moon to welcome fresh Australian talent to their growing and well respected roster of creative & vibrant artists in the form Sydney duo Trinity & Beyond.

Trinity & Beyond is a collaboration between DJ Trinity & producer J. Trinity has been at the forefront of Australia’s underground house & techno scene since 2002 as a DJ while J., with a history of classical music composition & past student of Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music, has turned his creative talents to composing tomorrow’s music today alongside Trinity as Trinity & Beyond.

The title track ‘Beyond Musique’ is a marching techno tune with a distinct industrial edge. The glitched-out, spooky ghost-like vocals present & combine with a gritty synth line to reveal a dark, edgy & thoughtful late night stormer. This one screams at the punters “Get your arse front and centre!!”

‘The Fat Man’ further showcases Trinity & Beyond’s affinity for warm-sounding synth lines. Layered on top of the warmth is a select layer of glitchy textures with a superb pad that brings the deepness where it’s most needed. Definitely one for the late night, together with the title track of the EP.

‘Nothing Else Matters’ showcases the deeper and more sensual sounds of Trinity & Beyond while still keeping the straight-up, no nonsense attitude of the previous two tracks. It’s a coolly, minimalist techno beat that stretches replete with deeper melancholia.

The word ‘Global’ is used almost daily in our lives, so you’d think that we all live within ear shot of each other. No doubt that cheap flights and the Internet have made our lives impractically joined, but this is all just an illusion.

In fact, we live in a world of 2 halves, that above and below Zero degrees. As our axis tilts fore and aft – we all seemingly cross a point where we all share a common pattern – even though some of us are diametrically opposite.

This release of Pinksilver Net is to celebrate that point in time. “Norte E Sul’ is a collection of tracks and compositions from producers in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. 04 – Simple – From The Rain: This lazy groove with tender sounds will have you magnified to your couch. You’ll be asking your nearest friend to drag you off. (37° 37′ N 122° 23′ W).

05 – Markojux – New Bambi: You are set free from the protection of your elders to fend for yourself, Danger ensues! Is survival guaranteed? Choose your own fate with this percussive, emotional and moody piece from Marko. (37° 47′ S 144° 58′ E)

06 – Nicholáz– Suave: Suave by name and suave by nature, this very cool and upbeat Tech House number has a definite summer vibe with the cool guitar and piano charming you for the entire duration. (34° 35′ S 58° 22′ W).

07 – Taban Hayes – Spooning Weather: Taban hits us with a fantastic & intensely fun track – one that will have us dancing around the pool in grass skirts sipping on Mojitos and smoking trumpets. Hey! Where are my sunglasses!? Pete Lawrence – take watch! (20° 48′ N 156° 20′ W).

08 - Bellotta – Half Light: A lovely composition and journey into the fabric of your mind. A track that certainly sticks out in this release, but one we could not ignore. Turn the light out, close your eyes and enjoy the 17min trip. (34° 35′ S 58° 22′ W).
