Spiritual and pulsating. Impulsive and sensual. These words only begin to describe the debt EP of Berlin’s Nadja Lind and studio partner Helmut Ebritsch together as Klartraum, in the form of the ‘Downunder Dub’ EP on Pinksilver Digital.

Known for their work on their own label Lucidflow in addition to releases on Darkroom Dubs & Soma Records, ‘Downunder Dub’ delves into dubby sonic soundscapes with a dash of emotion and nostalgia.
The title track ‘Downunder Dub’ delivers subtle, dubby synths amongst a gliding bass drum entwined with vocals that emerge from deep with your sub consciousness.

‘India’ is a 17 minute journey into your inner emotions and back again. Equally art as it is music; ‘India’ is full of rich, complete sonic soundscapes that take the listener deep into the abyss then back again. In a world of very disposable music, ‘India’ is a rare diamond that shines brightly.

The EP is supported by remixes from Pinksilver’s Markojux & Trinity & Beyond. Markojux’s re-touch of ‘Downunder Dub’ retains the dubby synths of the original but adds a more sinister touch to the remix, straddling the finer elements of dub house vibes.

Trinity & Beyond’s remix of ‘Downunder Dub’ puts the focus back on the dreamy synth line as it glides effortlessly throughout its journey, again with a heavy emphasis on the more dubbier strains techno.
An EP for connoisseurs of avant-garde house & techno.

Klartraum

Klartraum is German for the stage of lucid dream, when you become aware that you are dreaming and are able to manipulate your surroundings.

Driving deep into the subconscious, their music envelopes and surrounds its listeners creating a world in which just like a dream, things are never as they seem. With an aquatic fluidity and warm, wave like pulses, their music gently lulls you into this trance like state, allowing accepted structures to become contorted and morph into something entirely new.

Klartraum happens when Helmut Ebritsch (Hatikvah, Soma Records, Morris Audio, Baalsaal) and Nadja Lind (Darkroom Dubs, Out Post, Gastspiel)’ve come together to explore their musical urges. Both as a studio double duo and burgeoning live act they are bringing an entirely unique edge to their performances and output by taking their flowing techno to a deeper, spiritual level.

Since finding each other in 2006 through a producer website the Berlin based pair have stamped their unique mark on electronic music, finding favour with some of the world’s top DJs. On the dance floor this translates to epic live shows where the pair’s energy and connection brings them closer to the crowd, inviting dancers into their world.

In the studio they free their subconscious through harnessing the immense wealth of knowledge to found in spiritual teachings. The creative processes start with a Ho’oponopono cleansing and Eft Session then with their equipment Midi-synced their sound is crafted through lightening quick jam sessions.

The fluidity of their tracks reflects this process where two minds and bodies let their musical ideas evolve and merge together, constantly refining and pushing their own boundaries during this intuitive process.

Nadja’s intensely chaotic energy is bound by a natural continuity and progression in her work, resulting in tracks that tease and twist, leading the listener blindfolded through lush instrumentals and challenging soundscapes. This is regimented by Helmut’s skills developed through 20 years in the production game. These natural traits are often blurred as the pair grow as individuals with the teachings learnt through the universal language of music.

The highly personal approach is an organic process that allows tracks to grow naturally both in the studio and when it is shared with the floor. The tracks bump and groove with an assertive hypnotism, with strange understated sounds making perfect sense in Klartraum’s cohesive musical environment.

Naming tracks after psychological patterns (Ignorance, Dissociation, Fantasy Bond, Pain Relief), spiritual experiences (All Dimensions, Inner Sky, Beyond Illusion, I Don’t Know) and threading the voices of spiritual teachers and Zen masters through their work, Klartraum seek to bring the compelling wisdom and courage of people like Rudiger and Anette Nehberg, Steven Wolinsky, Marc Gafni, Ken Wilber to wider audiences through their art. The duo are truly adding another level of expression to electronic music.

Nadja Lind

In the moment when strangers are surrounded by and pulsating to the same rhythm, Nadja Lind is in her element. Her deeply spiritual take on life that is reflected in her DJ sets and productions, Nadja believes that music is the one language everybody knows and feels immediately. Striving to harness this is her muse.

Spinning her debut set on New Year’s Eve 2003, her prowess on the decks has taken her across Europe as well as to the US and India, including the Space Ibiza World Tour in 2007, to the million people Zurich Street Parade and the International Film Festival in Venice.

The impulse of life through music has given Nadja the strength in her convictions to form production duo/live act Klartraum with partner Helmut Ebritsch. In 2008 the pair founded their own label Lucidflow to push artists that they truly believe in, as well as their own productions.

Fascinated by the balance of dark and light her formative introduction to music saw Led Zeppelin, Slayer and Metallica all favourites before she was drawn to the unity of the dance floor. Now focusing her energy into deep, tech and minimal house, Her formidable production CV includes Darkroom Dubs, Outpost, BBE, Gastspiel, Lucidflow , We Love Space, Ministry of Sound, Parquet, Absurd Records, her own Imprint Lucidflow and many more.

Already breaking through to wider audiences, her remix of Gez Varley’s G11 was voted into the Groove Magazine’s TOP10 remixes of 2008 alongside Dubfire, Carl Craig, Joris Voorn and DJ Koze, while her own Pancake spent weeks at No. 1 on Beatport’s Ministry of Sound Top Downloads.

Nadja is constantly looking to bring disconnected people together through her music,

inspired by house and techno’s primal ability to create unity through a thumping kick drum. Creating a positive vibe that transcends a dark room filled with beats, she looks to fill her floor with smiles and empathy, an experience not just musical but of self discovery. From playing block flute and acoustic guitar as a child, in December 2010 she performed her first solo live Set at Berlin’s notorious Maria Club.

Part of the Berlin scene that inspired her to drive the 666 mile route from Manheim before she moved to the city, the endless inspiration that the German capital serves up has fueled her creativity, allowing her to explore many sides of her artistic self. The desire to find people on the same musical tip caused her to leave her native Rhineland, with a label, solo DJ gigs and as one half of Klartraum, she has rarely looked back.
