[psdtl011] Various - Twenty4 Part 3

psdtl011

Twenty4.

Pinksilver presents a selection of Australia’s finest up & coming and established artists with the Twenty4 release. Featuring 24 slices of avant-garde house & techno over three parts, the Twenty4 release delves into deep, moody house through to quirky minimal house & techno with artists such as Deepchild, Jamie Stevens, YokoO, Craig McWhinney, Steve Ward, Markojux & Thankyou City, to name a few.

A celebration of Australian talent and a gift to underground music connoisseurs across the globe.

Part 3 of the Twenty 4 release charters the more uncompromising elements of techno, with a scattering of Dubstep elements. The release kicks off with Deepchild, these days plying his trade frequently across Europe in arenas such as Berghain. His track ‘Onsen Dramas’ delivers a trademark kick & groove together with an intense use of vocals that leave the listener to their imagination. Pinksilver stalwart Markojux presents ‘On The Run’, a wicked journey deep into the night, a chase between dark elements on the run and noble elements forever a half step behind.

Craig McWhinney delivers us ‘M-99’, a no-nonsense journey into murky dancefloor dynamics, sweeping through the more desolate and dubbier elements of techno. Mike Buhl’s track ‘Record Of Discussion’ forges a dry and relentless path with a looping yet dynamic blend of hats & reverb synth lines, a track that tips its hat in the direction of Detroit’s finest.

Forty6&Two enter the fray with ‘Dihedral’, complete with rolling basslines & drums as it thunders its way through its path, leaving no compromises in its approach and its destruction. Adelaide’s Phildo gives us ‘Unsound’, a track with a clever and devastating use of diverse sounds that rumbles its way along, perfectly made for big festival arenas.

Hargin’s ‘Rattle’ is a wonderful voyage into techno space, not with a floating pod but more akin to a powerful rocketship, complete with signature rolling basslines and shuffling hats as it tears its way through the stars. Completing Part 3 of ‘Twenty4’ is Melbourne’s Mike Callander with his unique take on sonic acoustics on ‘6.5 Minutes With A Hand On It’, ditching the 4/4 time signature in favour of a more esoteric approach to close the Twenty4 release.
