[psdtl010] Various - Twenty4 Part 2

psdtl010

Twenty4.

Pinksilver presents a selection of Australia’s finest up & coming and established artists with the Twenty4 release. Featuring 24 slices of avant-garde house & techno over three parts, the Twenty4 release delves into deep, moody house through to quirky minimal house & techno with artists such as Deepchild, Jamie Stevens, YokoO, Craig McWhinney, Steve Ward, Markojux & Thankyou City, to name a few.

A celebration of Australian talent and a gift to underground music connoisseurs across the globe.

Part 2 explores the quirkier elements of house & techno, from Michelle Owen & Deepchild to the grittier & denser sounds of the underground from the likes of Uone & Steve Ward.

The opening track from Berlin resident Michelle Owen ‘Riff Raff’ showcases minimal funk and playful acid undertones while featuring the exquisite vocal talents of fellow Berliner & ex-Sydneysider Deepchild, followed by Nick McMartin with ‘Run Away’, a track full of striking and varied sounds, always moving and but never stagnating.

Canberra’s Biggie & Anjay deliver us ‘Ying Yang’, heading into a tougher 4/4 sound packed full of bouncy basslines and a salient synth hook that carries throughout the track. Melbourne’s Closer Apart follow-up with ‘Macro One’, a track that reveals itself as a low-slung groove, with a touch of sensuousness to boot.

Uone picks up the pace on this release with his tech-house number ‘For The Beep’, a probing excursion into funky dancefloor dynamics. Darius Bassiray & Jon Beta deliver ‘Meet Me In The Dunnies’, a rolling groove that is absorbed by a dreamy use of pads & synths, which together with the track title itself sounds rather ominous.

Steve Ward, a Pinksilver favourite and co-owner of Chameleon Recordings, delivers ‘Downtown Shutdown’ which delves into subterranean territory with its spirited use of reverb and vocals. Closing out Part 2 of ‘Twenty4’ is Perth’s Richard Parker, committed Pinksilver foot soldier, with ‘Anagram’, showcasing his unique and complete production skills with a track that has its roots in techno but creates its own sub-genre. We’ll leave you to decide what it is.
