Pawas
Cologne, Germany

The last 18 months has been a revolutionary time to remember for the deeper side of electronic dance music. With the deeper areas of house, techno and minimal having a stronger foothold on dance music than ever before, talented artists within these genres are finally getting the credit and acclaim they deserve, non more-so than Pawas Gupta.

Born and raised to a classical musician in India, Pawas was always destined for a career in music. From initially playing the ‘’tabla’’ (Indian drums) alongside his father in concerts, Pawas’ musical prowess was evident almost instantly as he quickly taught himself to play numerous other instruments including percussion, bass guitar and keyboards.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Pawas soon chose to pursue a career within his new found love of electronic music. At age 17, he began DJing in his native India. Pawas’ move to Europe in 2004 brought him to another level of success.

With his DJing talents becoming recognised around central Europe, production was the next step for Pawas. After the instant success of his first solo record ‘Katang’ in early 07, Pawas’ own productions together with his highly acclaimed collaborations with his best friend and fellow dance heavyweight Daso, has seen the adopted German causing a stir within the global scene.

After releases on labels such as Spectral Sound, Flash, Squonk and Connaisseur plus smash hits such as ‘Bummelzug’, ‘Det’ and ‘Crawl Around’, a legion of the world’s top DJs and producers have all joined the Pawas fan club, including Dubfire, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Marc Romboy, Luciano, Jimpster, Satoshie Tomiie etc.

Pawas’ deep, Detroit influenced style of house and techno has now become a much demanded recipe within dance music and DJ gigs in the likes of Switzerland, Spain, Norway, Dubai, Sweden and throughout Germany over the last year are an indication of this….

Various – Norte E Sul EP

The word ‘Global’ is used almost daily in our lives, so you’d think that we all live within ear shot of each other. No doubt that cheap flights and the Internet have made our lives impractically joined, but this is all just an illusion.

In fact, we live in a world of 2 halves, that above and below Zero degrees. As our axis tilts fore and aft – we all seemingly cross a point where we all share a common pattern – even though some of us are diametrically opposite.

This release of Pinksilver Net is to celebrate that point in time. “Norte E Sul’ is a collection of tracks and compositions from producers in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. So whether you are in the grips of an impending winter or the approaching warmth of summer, sit back, relax and enjoy the superb 8 tracker we have compiled.

This is one for the playlist boys and girls, spread the love!

Little is known about Pinksilver Ltd but you may come across a copy or two at Juno Records & DMC Records. Pinksilver Ltd stands proud as one Nueton’s exclusive labels alongside the likes of Perlon & Playhouse.

Pinksilver Ltd’s first release comes from Melbourne natives, Forty6&Two, aka Lance Harrison & Markojux. Röter Schlauch is a mix of dirty grinding techno rhythms with remix duties from Cologne’s Pawas, one of Europe’s rising stars with releases on Spectral Sound & Fear Of Flying.
