[psnet009] Jon Doe - Fifth Floor Walk-Up EP
Pinksilver’s 9th release comes from New York City’s Jon Doe. The man with the common name presents us with an EP full of sounds & arrangement that resemble anything but common music. As owner of the Stir netlabel, Mr Doe offers Pinksilver the same high-quality metallic resonance that serves Stir so well.
This 4-track EP consists of ‘Draggin’ Feet’, a nostalgic trip into rumbling bass & changing chords, particularly suited for those late night sessions whether at home or in the club. The remix of ‘Draggin’ Feet’ comes from Melbourne’s Paul Agius, keeping true to the original bass & chords but offering a more 4/4 feel to Doe’s original.
The aptly titled ‘Flat Out Boom Boom Babies’ is a glitched-out affair featuring warped vocal snippets, punchy bass & always switching arrangement patterns. Closing out this unique EP is ‘ReBirthday’, highlighting a grittier edge to Jon Doe’s production with deep bass & almost paranormal sound samples to match.
For lovers of deep, alternative electronic music.
