Kexie
Varazdin, Croatia
Growing up in an artistic family, Ksenija Ladic, aka Kexie, was surrounded by her grandmother’s passion for radio recordings and her aunt’s opera performances which influenced her to ultimately choose her favourite instrument; her voice.
Though she started her musical education playing the flute it became clear that she would be dedicating herself to what she felt was most natural. During the eighties she developed a love for bands such as the Eurythmics, Queen, Cyndi Lauper, Suzanne Vega and Madonna.
A decade later she became more attached to electronic music partly because of listening to foreign radio shows brodcasting new styles of music such as Snap!, Underworld, The Orb, Orbital, Roni Size and Massive Attack. Reason enough to start attending parties in a legendary local club called “Extravaganza” and go crazy on pounding beats till the early hours.
For the second stage of her academic career she moved to Zagreb where her love for both singing and electronics continued. She decided to take jazz singing education and spent 4 years perfecting her voice. Though being drawn to the electronical world, jazz would appear to take a special place in her further musical ambitions. In 2003 she started working for one of the most popular Croatian radio stations, “Radio 101″ and became more interested in DJ culture, playing both in radio program and venues in Zagreb.
After working with a band for a while, she got introduced to the production side of electronic music and started messing with sounds and beats, slowly but surely getting into a process of producing her own tracks. By this time she played mostly minimal techno influenced music around Croatia in clubs like Best, Extravaganza, Oxygene,Valinor and others, while collaborating as Doxa for Archipel, with Shadi Megallaa for Igloo and contributing to the Croatian netlabel Diggarama. Currently she is working in a sound studio continuing to improve her technical knowledge and working on her tracks and liveset.
